Types of Service for SVDP Ministry
Screeners: Once messages are received calls will be made to determine if client is in our service area and if assistance was given in the past. Names and phone numbers are then passed on to Caseworker.
Caseworkers: Phone clients to assess what assistance is required, make determination as to whether a referral is needed or what type of assistance we will be able to provide. (Training is provided and guidelines are in place) Client information will then be entered into database.
Thrift Store: Volunteers to sort and tag donated items and bring out to floor, cashiers, store clean up. Volunteers with truck who can pick up donations. Day Managers to open store, prepare cash drawer, close and get the deposit ready.
Food Pantry: Volunteer to help sort food, stock shelves, assist clients. Food Pantry is open every Monday from 10AM-3PM.
Money Counters: Help count the monthly SVDP collection at the church office
Special Events/Fundraisers - Volunteers needed to bake and/or serve for Friday Lenten Fish Firy, Volunteers also need to bake and volunteer during annual Fundraiser Casino Night March 16th. Extension Shelter: SVDP provides two meals a month at the men's shelter and one meal at the women's shelter. Cooks and/or servers are needed. Food is provided.
Bilingual Interpreters for intake work
Thanksgiving: Work with the Knights of Columbus to help with collection of food and cash at the yearly "Begging Weekend". Help box food for distribution.
Christmas: This is also a joint program with the Knights of Columbus. Help bring gifts collected from our Angel Tree to the Knights Hall.
